Errands

I'm trying to earn brownie points from my parents in light of recent events.

I haven't been a very good daughter lately so I believed some parental ass-kissing was in order. Said ass-kissing comes in several forms, most of which would be running various errands for my parents, such as bringing my father's shirts to the tailor, buying light bulbs at the hardware store, and filing a letter of complaint at the telephone company's office.

I was doing the last over the weekend.

I arrived at the phone company's office, carrying a letter that was typed just a few hours ago by my father, filled with hateful, possibly, swear-filled sentences, hoping that this particular errand wouldn't take long.

Once my number was called, I approached the counter, coming face-to-face with a fair-skinned, generally decent-looking woman. She asked me what I needed, and I said I was filing a complaint. She then asked me to describe the nature of my complaint, exposing a mouthful of crooked lower bottom teeth. I briefly summarized the contents of my father's letter, while simultaneously handing over one of the printed copies I had brought. I doubt she was listening to me at all, since she was reading the letter while I was talking. Stupid bitch. Tinanong mo pa ako, I thought.

She then told me that she was going to send an electronic report to the main office so that a technician could come over to our village to look at the problem. I nodded amiably, and waited, as she took eons, epochs, and endless eras to file the report. I imagined her looking at her Facebook account, watering crops on Farmville or whatever the hell horribly-coded games she might be playing, or posting on her friends' walls instead of actually filing the report, inevitably wasting her and my time. As she was doing this, she looks over at her co-worker and proceeds to detail her and her boyfriends' plans for the weekend. HOLY FUCK. YOU SHOULD BE FILING MY COMPLAINT, I thought.

I stared at her forehead really, really hard, hoping to somehow telepathically communicate this, or even possibly hoping that my brainwaves were transferring at least a teeny tiny bit of my intelligence, but no such thing occurred. I then proceeded to scrutinize her face again, wondering how this fat, crooked-toothed woman with her powder-covered face and horribly applied makeup even managed to get a boyfriend. Christ. The standards that people have these days. I rolled my eyes and waited.

After a few more epochs, eras, and centuries passed, she finally informed me that a technician was coming over to the village the next day to inspect the phone lines. I nodded, only giving her half my attention because God knows she didn't value or need it, hoping to make the conversation as short as possible so I could get the hell out of there and go home.

Walking out of that office, I remember thinking when I last looked at the woman behind the counter, I hope to hell I don't end up like you.

Hmm. My post looks like prose. :| whatever. It feels good to know I'm not as rusty as I thought. :D

Sem er Her

Sometimes I forget why I like walking so much. Maybe it's because it's infinitely better with a friend. Or maybe it was just because I probably walked the equivalent of 2.5 miles today. X| ugh. From the Math Building to Ylanan Gate to the supermarket to home via Tandang Sora. Tiring, but not incredibly so. :P

Karl Marx was right; the rich get richer, and the poor get poorer. :|

DARRREEEENNNN. I cannot wait to hang out tomorrow. :D I miss our evul conversations and spurts of random nothingness. :)) Christmas parties cannot come fast enough. Pleaseohpleaseohplease. Let nothing fuck that up. [-O<

I was supposed to put a sonnet here, but I couldn't find one that was exactly appropriate, so I gave up. Noone would be able to figure it out anyway. :)) GRABE TALAGA.
